Darron Byrd, Program Director of Youth Detention Intervention 

Darron was born and raised in Jackson, MS, but finished high school in Dallas, TX. He joined the USAF where he served for four years before receiving his bachelor’s degree in theological studies from Leavell College at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He previously owned a Home Instead Senior Care franchise for 13 years and has served in multiple church positions.

The YDI program includes outreach evangelism and discipleship inside detention centers where juveniles who are detained for criminal activity hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and are encouraged to come to Him in faith. The outreach ministry also includes new believer Bible study groups, one-on-one discipleship, and aftercare for those who have been released. He is married to Rachel, and they have three children, two of whom are in college, and two grandchildren.
